The name and shape of these lights suggests that they will glisten and sparkle when switched on. The beaded design is intended to refract the light and give a sparkly appearance but is heavily dependent on the location of the filament in the lamp. I found that newer lamps are longer, hence the filament is located outside the shade and the light does not refract so well.
